Start your spring gardening with free seeds from Chatham-Kent Public Library! CKPL Grows Seed Library will launch on Monday, March 20. All branches are offering a variety of seeds for residents to grow.
In partnership with Seed Library, CKPL will be hosting a virtual presentation on successful vegetable gardening delivered by Julia Dimakos. Julia is an organic gardener from Mono, Ontario, who gardens on 25 acres on the Niagara Escarpment. Three years ago, her vegetable garden was expanded from 2000 to 7000 square feet: continuing in the formal kitchen garden style.
Julia has been growing vegetables and writing about gardening for 11 years. She has also been published in “Canadian Organic Grower” magazine. She loves to inspire others to start their own gardens by showing them a less complicated, yet smarter way to grow food. You can find her blog at www.juliadimakos.com, on Instagram @juliadimakos, on YouTube at www.youtube.com/gardeninggirl and Facebook at, “Julia Dimakos, Gardening Girl”.
Julia is Past-President of the Orangeville & District Horticultural Society and Assistant District Director of OHA's District 7.
The live Zoom presentation will be offered on Monday, May 15 at 6:30 pm. Registration and an email address are required. For those unable to attend virtually, the presentation will be shown at Chatham Branch.
