Ontario Public Library Week happens every October during Canadian Library Month. Libraries and library partners across Canada take this time to raise awareness of the valuable role libraries play in all our lives. Your library card opens up so many possibilities!
In celebration of Ontario Public Library Week, Chatham-Kent Public Library is pleased to highlight just a few of the innovative programs CKPL offers for residents to enjoy:
Let’s Talk Libraries CK is a project that shares feedback from the CKPL Strategic Planning Survey with the community. “Works Cited” involves engaging text-based and public art practices that share responses from the survey with the community by adorning the library buildings. The second project, “This is a Library Podcast” features conversations with CKPL staff that use the survey as the context for the conversation. Listen as some CKPL staffers get candid and unpack what a contemporary library space looks like, and just how important people are in the delivery of meaningful and compassionate library services. Visit your local branch to see one of 16 pieces of artwork, or click on www.ckpl.ca/letstalklibrariesck
Virtual How-To Festival will take place from October 16 to 23. How-To videos will be posted daily to CKPL’s Facebook page and YouTube channel on various topics from watercolours to making slime. Patrons can register for how-to kits to use while watching the instructional videos. Learn something new in 20 minutes or less with CKPL! Register at search.ckpl.ca by searching “how-to”.
