Early Literacy Programs at CKPL

Early literacy programs are back this fall at Chatham-Kent Public Library! Children 0 to 18 months who are registered for an early literacy program at any CKPL branch will receive a free board book courtesy of Ahcom Shriners! One book available per family.

Reading to a child right from birth has many important benefits. Reading together increases bonding time, exposes baby to new words, helps baby recognize a variety of shapes, letters, and colours, and helps them foster a lifelong love of reading.

Shriners are a fraternal organization committed to making a difference in the world through brotherhood, family, fun, and philanthropy. The goal of Shriners is to improve the lives of children both through the support of local children’s programs and services, and by offering unique, patient-centered, wrap-around care at Shriners Hospitals for Children. All of the children's care is done free of charge, with no cost to the family at a Shrine Hospital. There are 22 locations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico where a child can receive care for their specific needs. For more information about Ahcom Shriners, please visit the Ahcom Shriners Facebook page.
