To celebrate the grand finale of the 2023 CK Reads program, Chatham-Kent Public Library (CKPL) will be hosting author, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, for a virtual author talk on Thursday, May 4 at 2:00 pm via Zoom. CKPL would like to extend a special thank-you to the Rotary Club of Chatham for sponsoring Silvia’s visit.
CK Reads started in 2016 and has grown steadily each year thanks to the support from the community. Through discussions and programs, CK Reads hopes to bring the community closer together through a shared love of reading. The 2023 CK Reads selected title “The Daughter of Doctor Moreau” is available at all 11 CKPL branches and online in both ebook and audiobook format.
Mexican by birth, Canadian by inclination. Silvia Moreno-Garcia is the author of a number of critically acclaimed novels, including “Gods of Jade and Shadow” (Sunburst Award for Excellence in Canadian Literature of the Fantastic, Ignyte Award), “Mexican Gothic” (Locus Award, British Fantasy Award, Pacific Northwest Book Award, Aurora Award, Goodreads Award), and “Velvet Was the Night” (finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and the Macavity Award). Silvia lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Silvia’s talk will be broadcast live at CKPL’s Chatham, Blenheim, Dresden, Ridgetown, Tilbury and Wallaceburg branches. Community members can also watch Silvia’s visit on the go by registering for the program Zoom link through Ask CKPL:
