Many STIs have no symptoms but can have serious consequences. If you think you have an STI, we can help. We provide confidential counselling and testing.
Most STI testing is free and done on a walk in basis. If you are having symptoms you will require an appointment to see the clinic doctor. A valid health card is required to see the doctor, if you do not have a health card talk to the nurse about your options. Please discuss this with the nurse when you make your appointment. Bring your health card if you can. A health card is preferred, but NOT required, except for PAP tests, where you must pay the clinic directly if you do not have a valid health card.
We test for:
- Hepatitis B & C
We can test you for chlamydia and gonorrhea through a simple urine test if you have no symptoms. If you have symptoms you will require an appointment. A blood sample is taken for HIV, Hepatitis B & C, and syphilis testing. We take blood for HIV, hepatitis B & C and syphilis testing.
In order to test for herpes there must be an active outbreak to swab. A blood test is available with a requisition from your family doctor, however there may be a fee associated with this blood test. Lab Tests and Services
Trichomoniasis and bacterial vaginosis are tested in women by swabbing the vagina. Men unfortunately cannot be tested for trichomoniasis.
Don’t worry! Your clinic visit is confidential. It's a private discussion between you and the nurse. Let’s decide what option is right for you.

How to get STI test results
Call us for your test results. Don’t assume that we will call you. Results usually take up to 1 week (up to 1 month for a Pap test). If you’ve had several tests this may take longer. You may have to call a few times to get all of your results. HIV results are not given over the phone.
We provide free treatment for most STI's and no appointment is needed. Human papillomavirus (HPV) or genital wars are treated by appointment only. All clients are given information about safer sex, and provided with condoms to decrease the risk of sexually transmitted infections.
Our Sexual Health Information Line is confidential, and anonymous. Our Public Health Nurses can answer your questions about sexuality and relationships or help you make an appointment at the clinic.
