You can walk in for a free pregnancy test (a urine test). The test can detect pregnancy as early as 1 week after your first missed period. It should be done first thing in the morning.
You can have a free pregnancy test done:
- By your health care provider
- At one of our sexual health clinic locations
- At most high schools by your school nurse
A blood test for pregnancy is very accurate and can be done as early as 5 days after intercourse. This test needs to be ordered by a physician. Our clinic does not offer this type of pregnancy testing.
If your Test is Negative:
You may not be pregnant. However, you might have to repeat the test. Sometimes if it is very early in the pregnancy, the test may not be able to detect the hormone in your urine.
If your Test is Positive:
If your result is positive public health nurses are available to provide all-inclusive pregnancy counselling in a nonjudgmental caring environment.
If you were planning a pregnancy and the test result is positive - wonderful news! It is important to make connections early with health care providers, to make sure that you receive early prenatal care.
