If you obtain your drinking water from a private well, you should know if the water is safe to drink. Testing of your well water is your job.

You must submit water samples to the health unit within 24 hours of collection. We accept samples during the following hours:

  • Monday to Thursday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
  • Friday 8:30 am – 11:00 am

We submit these samples for you to the Ontario Public Health Lab in London.

Public health inspectors can help you understand the results of your water test. They can advise you on corrective measures that may be required.

Location of water bottles

You can pick up water bottles for testing at the C-K Public Health Unit or your nearest municipal service centre.

Boil Water & Drinking Water Advisories

If a public water source is unsafe, we issue a Boil Water Advisory or a Drinking Water Advisory. We post these to our website. If you wish to receive notice of these advisories, please subscribe to the municipal e-mail Subscription Service.

Small Drinking Water Systems (SDWS) Program

We inspect small drinking water systems to comply with the regulations.

Small drinking water systems include restaurants, seasonal trailer parks, summer camps, community centers, libraries, gas stations, motels, churches, and many other public places.
