  • Share your life experiences with family, friends and others in your community
  • Take part in an activity you enjoy
  • Go for a walk, everyday
  • Join a group with similar interests
  • Try a crossword or Sudoku

Although, not an expected part of aging, depression can occur for the first time in older adults.  The changes mentioned above can affect how you feel. If you are feeling down, talk to your doctor or health care provider.

Learn the warning signs of suicide:

  • Talking about hurting themselves
  • Talking or writing about death or dying
  • Substance abuse
  • Feeling like they have lost their purpose in life; hopelessness, feeling trapped
  • Withdrawing from others
  • Anger
