The South Kent Water Treatment Plant supplies both raw untreated drinking water to the Chatham Water Treatment Plant and treated drinking water to communities of Blenheim and Erieau. Following a condition assessment by Eaton Electrical at the plant of the existing electrical substation and switchgear, Eaton determined that the equipment was at the end of its service life and was in need of replacement. In order improve reliability of the primary power feed to the treatment plant, the Chatham-Kent PUC proposes to replace of the existing aging twin step-down transformers, primary and secondary switchgears and associated 27.6kV and 4.16kV power feeder cables.
The Electrical Upgrades at the South Chatham-Kent Water Treatment Plant Project has a total projected value of $288,000. The timeline for this project is June 2016 to March 2018.
