COVID-19:  CKTransit Service Notice for Essential Travelers

CKTransit is reminding ridership that public transit remains in operation for essential travel only. Essential travel means riders requiring transit service to get to and from work, or to secure essential goods and services. 

The following service changes come into effect Monday May 11, 2020:

  • Routes 1, 2, 3, and 4 will return to normal hours and will operate from 6:15 AM – 7:15:00 PM, Monday – Saturday, every 30 minutes;
  • Route 5 will return to normal hours and will operate from 6:30 AM – 7:30 PM, Monday – Saturday, every 60 minutes;

The following services will remain on reduced services hours:

  • Chatham and Wallaceburg Accessible will operate from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Saturday. Sunday service remains suspended;
  • The 6:45 PM departure for Inter-Urban Routes A, C, and D remains suspended. All other Inter-Urban route departure times from the Chatham Terminal are operating;
  • CKTransit On-Request evening service remains suspended;

Changes are in effect until further notice.

Bus operators will be enforcing social distancing measures by limiting capacity to no more than six riders at a time.

Do not make trips into the community unless it is essential. If you are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms, stay home.

Future notices will be issued through the media, CKTransit.ca, at the Downtown Chatham Terminal, and on transit vehicles. Up-to-date information may not be available at every shelter.

We appreciate the understanding of our riders during this difficult time.

COVID-19 Four Counties Transportation Suspension of Service

DETOUR:  Route 4 - Bloomfield Road / Richmond Street Reconstruction – Phase 1

As of Tuesday, April 21, 2020, Conventional Transit Route 4 will be detoured as illustrated in map below.

The bus will travel west on Richmond Street to Irwin Street, where it will turn around, missing the four (4) stops shown below in red. There will be no stops missed on Park Avenue East. Route 5 will not be affected during Phase 1 of this project.

DETOUR:  Route 5 - Bloomfield Road / Richmond Street Reconstruction - Phase 1

On Monday May 4, 2020, CK Transit Conventional Route 5 will not be able to travel through the Richmond/Bloomfield intersection as it will be closed due to construction.  Route 5 transit bus will turn around at the Chatham Amouries building on Bloomfield Road.

CK Transit Seasonal Bus Route Delayed

Please be advised that the Seasonal Beach Bus S1 Route will be delayed until further notice.


The Seasonal route (that provides service to Erieau and Mitchell's Bay) was originally scheduled to begin on May 15, 2020, however, all public beaches are currently closed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. At this time we know the beach closures will be in place until at least May 31, 2020.

CKTransit will continue to update the public of any changes to the Seasonal Beach Bus service via media release and on our website at: www.cktransit.ca
