Service Area

Chatham Accessible Transit operates within the city limits of the community of Chatham. For a map of the service boundary click: See map 
If you are unsure if you are included within the Chatham service area please call 519.360.1998.

The boundary roads are:  

South of the River

  • Indian Creek Road to Howard Road to Hitchcock Road to Wilcox Street to Bloomfield Road to Riverview Drive.
  • All roads west of Highway 40 (Communication Road) from Prince Albert to Park Ave. including Eastlawn Road to Indian Creek Road to Charing Cross Road.
  • All roads directly off of Charing Cross Road from Indian Creek to Southside Estates.  A small portion of English Line and Seventh Line is included

North of the River

  • Grande River Line north of River from Westgate Walk to Keil Drive
  • Bear Line Road to Gregory Drive West to St. Clair Street to North Maple Mall (Walmart) including St. Clair Estates to Gregory Drive to Victoria Ave  (includes all roads directly off of Victoria Ave to McNaughton Ave E (Including all roads off of McNaughton Ave E to Michener Road (a small portion of Given Road is serviced) to Grand Ave East.
  • Grand Ave East to Standaert Road and Riverside Mobile Home Park

Hours of Service and Fares

The hours of service are:


  • Monday – Saturday:  6:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
  • Friday Evening:  6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Sunday:  9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Who Can Use It?

You can use this service for the following purposes: employment, education, medical, personal, business, or leisure activities. Booking priorities follow the same order.

Applications are approved on a permanent or temporary basis depending on the individuals need.

How Do I Register?

You can apply for Chatham Accessible Transit by:

  • Visiting the Chatham-Kent Civic Centre (315 King Street West, Chatham) to pick up a form in person, or

  • Calling 519.360.1998 to request an application or

  • Clicking here: Application Form

The Application must:

  • Be filled out by applicant, or designated person, giving reasons for request to use the Accessible Transit Chatham Service

  • State if the application is to be permanent or temporary

  • Be either signed by the applicant or signed on behalf of the applicant

  • Be signed by attending doctor or nurse practitioner giving his/her medical reasons why applicant needs the use of the Accessible Transit Chatham Service

How to Book a Ride

You can book a ride by calling CKTransit Service at 519.436.3233.

Be sure to:

  • Book your return trip at the same time

  • Book appointments 24 hours in advance - trips are booked on a first-call, first-serve basis subject to priority list as follows: employment, education, medical, personal, business, or leisure activities.

Provide the following information:

  • Your Name

  • Exact address of pick-up and destination

  • Desired time of pickup

  • If you will be accompanied by an attendant

Can Someone Come With Me?

If you require an attendant to assist you on the Accessible Transit Chatham bus (as indicated on your approved application form) the attendant must be present at all times and will travel free of charge.

All companions not designated as an attendant are subject to the $3.00 Fare per person per one way ride.

Can I Cancel My Trip?

Please give 24 hours notice. Insufficient notice of cancellation may result in full-fare payment.

Will I Be Able to Get a Ride on a Regular Basis?

A standing arrangement for service is available for persons who are travelling at a regular time to and/or from a destination such as work, post-secondary school, or medical facility.

Users Responsibilities

The following guidelines must be followed:

  • Have exact fare ready

  • Be ready five (5) minutes ahead of your scheduled time

  • The Driver is not required to wait more than five (5) minutes past your appointed pick-up time

  • If you must cancel, please do so at least 24 hours in advance

  • Be as flexible as possible in regards to your arrangements for a ride. Allow up to twenty (20) minutes wait from your scheduled pick-up time, especially in bad weather

  • All passengers must wear seatbelts

  • All personal belongings must be in your care and control at all times

  • No smoking
