All rates are set annually by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MHLTC). The July 1, 2019 rates for all long-term care homes in Ontario are:

*Note: Based on the “Notice of Assessment” from Revenue Canada for the previous year, residents in basic accommodations may apply for a rate reduction. Semi-private and private accommodations are not eligible for a rate reduction.

COVID-19 December 29, 2020 Update

Riverview Gardens is currently closed to the general public and visitors. 

Approved caregivers must bring in proof of a negative COVID-19 test result within the past 7 days to enter the buidling. 

Proof of Negative COVID-19 Test Required :

The Ministry of Long Term Care is mandating that effective November 30, 2020 all visitors/caregivers, staff, volunteers, service providers, students etc. must bring in proof of having a negative COVID-19 test within the last 2 weeks to enter Riverview Gardens.
There is one exception to this rule. For visitors/ caregivers coming in to spend time with someone who is at the end of life stage, a negative COVID-19 test is not required.

Visiting 

Resident Day Trips

  • Residents can only  leave the RVG property for medical appointments at this time

Resident Overnight Trips

  • Residents may not leave RVG for overnight stays at this time

Indoor Visits  

  • 1 approved caregiver may visit a resident at a time
  • Caregiver visits must be in the resident's room only (please only visit resident you are intending to visit)
  • Caregivers may help feed in the back of the dining room
  • Caregivers must wear proper PPE provided by the Home in outbreak units at all times


Please Note:

  •  Items may be dropped off at the Robertson Ave entrance and put on the cart right inside the door
  • Any violation of these rules may result in visiting privileges being revoked 
Caregiver Program

Who can be a caregiver?

  • Caregivers must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A maximum of 2 caregivers may be designated per resident at a time. The designation must be made in writing.
  • Examples of caregivers include family members who provide meaningful connection, a privately hired caregiver, paid companions and translators. 
Rules:
  • Caregivers may come in daily for any length of time
  • Caregivers are not required to do any tasks by RVG, rather, they may do things to support the resident they did prior to the pandemic. For example,  one caregiver at a time may be in the dining room with the resident to help with eating, if that is desired.  While not required, we would like to prearrange this, so we can have a separate table set up , for social distancing purposes
  • 1 Caregiver at a time may be in the Dining Room when assisting with feeding
  • In the event RVG goes into outbreak or the region escalates to orange, red or grey status, Caregivers will continue to be able to visit
  • Caregivers MUST wear a yellow Caregiver button when they are onsite as a Caregiver- This is how staff will recognize Caregiver status

Screening

  • Must pass screening questions
  • Bring in proof of a negative COVID-19 test result within the previous  7 days and not subsequently tested positive
  • Prior to visiting any resident for the first time after this policy is released, the home will provide training to caregivers that addresses how to safely provide direct care, including putting on and taking off required PPE, and hand hygiene.
  • Prior to visiting any resident for the first time after this policy is released, and at least once every month thereafter, the home should ask caregivers to verbally attest to the home that they have read/re-read the home's visitor policy.

Caregiver Application:

  • Application can be found under the 'Downloads' section or one can be picked up at Riverview Gardens
  • Applications can be returned via mail (include address) or dropped off at the screening desk at the Robertson Ave entrance

How to get a COVID-19 test at the CKHA Assessment Centre:

In order to get a COVID-19 test, book online at www.assessmentbooking.ca. You will need a valid green Ontario Health Card. Please provide an email address while filing out the online form to confirm your appointment date and time. For those who do not have the above, or do not have access to technology, they may phone CKHA at 519-352-6400 x 6548 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. After hours, the number to phone is 519-352-6400 x 6584. Please book an appointment before attending. They request you bring your health card as well as a list of medications, allergies and past health issues. NOTE: Hours of operation: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the last patient seen at 4:20 pm. CKHA's COVID-19 Assessment Centre is located at the St.Clair College HealthPlex at 1001 Grand Ave West in Chatham. Free parking is available during the above hours, in the lot adjacent to the building.
