At the library, you and your family can do many things:

Collections

With a library card, anyone can borrow books, magazines, DVDs and more from CKPL!

Did you know that we have books in 19 languages? Most are at the Chatham Branch but can be requested at any CKPL branch. And we have dual language (bilingual) children's books too. Languages we carry are: Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, German, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese.

CKPL has resources for language learning. Search for language learning materials on our online catalogue, available at search.ckpl.ca.

Mango Take-Out: Language Learning in a Box is available as well. These allow patrons to develop practical conversation skills and enjoy an effective language learning experience without being online! Each Mango Take-Out box contains a USB drive, pre-loaded with the Mango Basic course for one individual language. There are 9 languages available at CKPL including Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.  Just plug it into your computer and start learning!

Mango Playaway is a self-contained portable audio player loaded with a high-definition language course. Mango Playaway is ideal for all age groups and for the visually impaired. Languages that CKPL carries in the Playaway format include Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Irish, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Spanish.
