What You Need to Do
In order to apply for an encroachment permit, you must:
Complete the Encroachment Permit Application
Return completed application, and a Certificate of Insurance for not less than $2 million (Public Liability and Property), listing the Municipality of Chatham-Kent as additional insured
Arrange for payment of applicable fees and deposits by visiting the nearest Municipal Service Centre, or phoning 519.360.1998 with any major credit card.
You are not permitted to commence any work in our right-of-way until your approved permit has been issued. Please remember that permits may take up to 10 business days before being issued.
Fees and Costs
The following are required before an encroachment permit can be issued:
The fee associated with obtaining an encroachment permit is $150.50
An additional damage deposit of $1,000 is also required. This is refunded after work has been completed, any required property restoration has been completed, and the Municipality has verified that no damage to the existing infrastructure has occurred.
