Recycling Toter Carts
Recycling toter carts are available to all multi-residential (6 or more units), commercial, industrial and institutional properties. They are subsidized by the Municipality at 50%. Please drop-off the Recycling Toter Cart Order Form along with payment to the nearest Municipal Centre.
Apartment Buildings (Multi-Residential)
The owner of any building that contains six or more dwelling units must implement a source separation/recycling program for the waste generated at the building (Ontario Regulation 103/94). This is regulated through the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (1-800-387-8826) not Chatham-Kent.
Most multi-residential buildings within the Municipality have private garbage/recycling pick up with a private contractor. They often dispose of their excess refuse in a dumpster(s) located behind their building. Limited municipal curbside garbage and recycling collection is available as per By-Law 119-2005.
