Community Safety and Security

Community safety and security is a primary responsibility of the local government. The Municipality of Chatham-Kent achieves this mandate through the provision of the land ambulance service, also known as Emergency Medical Services and the establishment of the Emergency Management Division.

Under the direction of the Assistant Chief of Emergency Medical Services/Emergency Management the ambulance service is contracted to Medavie EMS Ontario. Over 100 paramedics at six ambulance bases provide 24 hour coverage to the entire Municipality.

Emergency Response Plan

An Assistant Chief at Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services is also responsible for the maintenance of the municipal emergency response plan, the municipal emergency operations centre and the ongoing public awareness of personal preparedness and the importance of local knowledge regarding emergency management.

The ultimate goal is to ensure that the citizens and visitors to Chatham-Kent are provided a quality emergency medical services experience and striving to make Chatham-Kent a disaster resilient community.
