Forest of Reading Virtual Author Visits at Chatham-Kent Public Library

The Forest of Reading® is Canada’s largest recreational reading program! This initiative of the Ontario Library Association (OLA) celebrates Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators. More than 270,000 readers participate annually from their school and/or public library.

This year, the Forest of Reading has pre-recorded virtual visits with the authors in the Silver Birch Express, Silver Birch Fiction, and Red Maple categories. Visits are 30 minutes long and include a 20 minute author presentation and 10 minute question and answer period. These books are accessible for free through CKPL.

To join the fun, readers choose a program that they would like to be a part of, usually based on their age or grade, and simply begin reading! They can read all ten of the titles, or pick and choose to read only the ones they are interested in. If participants read at least 5 of the 10 selected titles, they are eligible to vote for their favourite nominee to win the category! The Forest of Reading program encourages a genuine and life-long love of reading among readers of all ages.
