“One Card, One Million Possibilities” During Ontario Public Library Week with CKPL – “Board Games To Go” Collection Launch

Ontario Public Library Week is celebrated every year in October during Canadian Library Month. Libraries and library partners across Canada take this time to raise awareness of the valuable role libraries play in all our lives. Your library card opens up so many possibilities, and this week, CKPL will highlight just one of the million possibilities every day!

Chatham-Kent Public Library is launching a brand new collection of board games called ‘Board Games To Go’!. Board game popularity is ever increasing and as a result, the library wanted to make board games accessible for everyone and offer a wide range of games to our patrons to play at home. The ‘Games To Go’ collection focuses on games for those 8 years and older, and range in play time and skill level.

For Chatham-Kent Public Library, this new lending collection is the perfect way to support families during this time of social distancing by bringing the family together. Board games provide screen free entertainment and allow groups to connect and interact together. They also build skills such as comprehension, problem solving, strategizing, and numeracy and can help expand vocabulary. Board games also create life long learners. A few of the board games in this collection include: Barenpark, Five Tribes, Hive, Kingdomino, Pillars of the Earth, Tiny Towns, and Splendor. ‘Games To Go’ are available to borrow from all 11 library locations. Place  a hold by searching “board games” at search.ckpl.ca and picked up a new game to try during any curbside or open hours.

CKPL’s priority is to ensure safe, accessible library spaces for our community with top quality customer service and collections, both in person and virtually. Come to your library branch for a visit in celebration of Ontario Public Library Week and see the possibilities!
