Yard waste collection guidelines

for Chatham-Kent communities

 

Please note that all leaf and yard waste, including brush, must not obstruct the municipal roadway or public sidewalk (right-of-way). 

Residents of Bates Subdivision

Leaf and yard waste pick-up is scheduled for Monday or Tuesday in the spring (commencing  April 1st), summer and fall and must be in clear transparent bags.  There is no brush pick-up by Public Works in Bates Subdivision. 

Residents of Blenheim

Leaf pick-up in the fall ONLY and must be in clear transparent bags or they will not be collected.   Leaf pick up will be from October 15 to December 15.  Brush will be picked up bi-weekly from April 15 to October 15.

Residents of Bothwell

Brush and leaf pick-up is scheduled for the third Friday of each month from April 15 to the end of September.  Leaves, grass clippings and garden waste must be in clear transparent bags ONLY or they will not be collected.

Residents of Erieau and Erie Beach

Brush will be picked up twice monthly from April 15 to October 15. 

Residents of Thamesville

Brush and leaf pick-up is scheduled for the third Thursday of each month from April 15 to the end of September.  Vacuuming loose leaves at the curb is the only means of collection in the fall.  Grass clippings and garden waste must be in clear transparent bags ONLY or they will not be collected.

Residents of Ridgetown

Brush, leaf and yard waste pick-up is scheduled for Monday or Tuesday in the spring (commencing April 1st), summer and fall.  Grass clippings, leaves and garden waste must be in clear transparent bags ONLY or they will not be collected.  Vacuuming loose leaves at the curb is the preferred means of collection in the fall ONLY.  Residents are encouraged to drop off leaf and yard waste at the Public Works Yard located at 100 Erie St North. 

Residents of Tilbury

Weekly brush, grass and leaf pick-up is scheduled for the spring (commencing April 1st), summer and fall.  Grass clippings and garden waste must be in clear transparent bags ONLY or they will not be collected.  Vacuuming loose leaves at the curb is the preferred means of collection in the fall ONLY.

Residents of Wheatley

Weekly leaf pick-up is scheduled for the fall.  Vacuuming loose leaves is the ONLY means of collection.  There is no brush pick-up by Public Works in Wheatley.  Brush may be dropped off at the Romney Leaf and Yard Depot located @ 22022 Wheatley Road on the 2nd and 4th Saturday from January to March and all Saturdays from April to December between 9:00am and 3:00pm.

General information

Please have your brush and leaves at the curb no later than 7:00 am the day of collection.  Loose brush must be piled in an orderly fashion and bundles should not exceed 5ft x 3ft x 3ft.  Limit of 1-2 cubic metres if placed at the curb loose or a maximum of four bundles.  Tree limbs must not exceed 5 inches in diameter.

Leaves, grass clippings and garden waste must be in clear transparent bags ONLY unless otherwise stated differently for your community.

NOTE:  All brush material and tree limbs resulting from a contractor will not be collected.  No leaf and yard waste will be collected if it is contaminated with garbage.  No other waste will be collected such as building materials.
