Known as [refresh] CK, the project has as its goal the creation of a website that is Reliable, Efficient, Functional, Relevant, Engaging, Simple and Helpful.

“Part of our commitment to open and transparent government is to share information and to encourage communication with our residents,” said Chatham-Kent Chief Administrative Officer Don Shropshire. “Having a website that does that is essential to our efforts.”

Amy Wilcox, Manager of Corporate Initiatives, said preliminary work is under way with the main goal of making the website useful for residents and others as well as fully compliant under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), which takes full effect for the public sector in 2021.

“A lot has changed in community engagement and we need to make the most effective use possible of all of our resources,” she said. “The website is our electronic front door to the world and we want to be useful and informative.”

Users can provide their thoughts through a survey on letstalkchatham-kent.ca/  through the end of February. Participants are asked a number of questions about how and why they use the website and what features they would like to see.

That information will be provided to the Information Technology Services and Corporate Communications departments who are overseeing the project.

It is expected that the new site will be functional by autumn.
