The railroad company-mandated work will begin Tuesday, August 20 at 7 a.m. and last through Friday August 23. The project includes rehabilitation work on the railway tracks and crossing surface across the roadway.

All lanes will be closed and both sidewalks across the railway will be closed. Pedestrians will not have any access through the work zone that will also be closed to emergency vehicles.

Local traffic will be allowed up to the work zone and access to businesses will remain.

With the continued closure of Grand Avenue West for through traffic between Lacroix Street and Keil Drive, options for motorists are limited.

“The railway repairs are necessary for safety but we do not have control of the project,” said Ryan Brown Chatham-Kent Director of Public Works. “We’re asking motorists for their patience and be aware that they may need to plan alternate routes and allow themselves more time.”
