Blenheim is located in the heart of southwestern Ontario's famed agricultural lands. The community is surrounded by orchards and fields; during the summer and fall seasons, fresh fruit and vegetables are readily available at farms markets and roadside vegetable stands.
Agriculture plays an important role in Blenheim's economy. Large agricultural processing industries such as
Platinum Produce and
Thompsons Limited provide employment for many in town. In July, residents celebrate Blenheim's agricultural heritage with
Cherry Fest, complete with pie eating and cherry-pit spitting contests.
Blenheim is also home to several manufacturing plants which produce plastics, steel, and automotive parts. Chatham-Kent's reputation as the “Classic Car Capital of Canada” is due in large part to Blenheim. The community is home to the corporate offices of
RM Auctions, a world-renown auction house for collector cars, as well as
RM Auto Restoration.
If you are an outdoor enthusiast, Blenheim is the perfect community for you! The town is located a short drive away from the lakeside village of
Erieau, with its hiking trails and beaches. Erieau is also home to a marina and yacht club, making it popular with water enthusiasts! Blenheim is also located near
Rondeau Provincial Park, with its trails, beaches, and campgrounds.
Blenheim residents like to stay active, and the community plays host to several fun runs and races, including the annual “Trot to the Beach” half marathon. It is also home to two golf courses, a
curling club, numerous parks, and a Municipal recreation complex with an indoor
swimming pool. The Blenheim Blasts swim club,
Golden Eagles gymnastics club, and the
Chatham Aeronauts flying club are all located in Blenheim, along with a number of dance studios and organized sports leagues.
