If you’re starting, expanding, or buying a small business, you can apply for training, mentoring, and a grant through Starter Company Plus. The Starter Company PLUS program provides training, mentorship and the chance to apply for a business grant to qualified participants to support the launch of a new business or expansion of an existing business. In addition to mandatory in-class training is provided, we also provide individualized training and mentorship resources.
The training consist of a wide range of topics, including:
- Creating a business plan
- Reading financial statements
- Cost and pricing products
- Understanding cashflow
- Presentation skills
- Human resources
About the Grant
Through Starter Company Plus, you can apply for a grant of up to $5,000. Applicants must complete all training and provide finished business, marketing, and financial plans.
Who can apply
You can apply if you're:
- 18 years of age or older
- an Ontario resident and Canadian citizen (or permanent resident)
- not attending school full-time or returning to school
To qualify for a grant, you must be able to make a contribution in cash or in kind. It has to be for least 25% of the grant amount.
