Small Business Centre Digital Improvement Grant

The Digital Improvement Grant provides funding of up to $2,500 to assist small businesses with developing or enhancing their online footprint.

This grant may be utilized to improve websites, search engine optimization, digital marketing, creation of video and photography galleries, increase online marketing efforts, upgrade technology or purchase e-commerce solutions. These funds are not intended to cover existing operating costs such as rent and utilities or compensating for lost revenues during the COVID-19 pandemic. 


  • Must be an existing small business with 15 employees or less located in Chatham-Kent
  • Must be a full-time business venture (35+ hours per week)
  • Is a sole proprietorship, partnership or a corporation where the applicant is a majority shareholder (if incorporated, application and grant funding is in personal name)
  • Is an independent business venture
  • Fits the Canada Revenue Agency's definition of being self-employed FORM RC 4110 through the website
  • Maintains a separate business bank account, follows government rules and regulations for operating a busines

Businesses not eligible

  • Franchises, commissioned sales and distributorships
  • Not-for-profit or charitable enterprises or publicly funded organizations
  • Multi-level marketing ventures
  • Previous recipients of Digital Main Street grant
  • Single events such as musical ventures, bands, DJs or dance/party event organizations
NOTE: TAX TREATMENT OF SMALL BUSINESS DIGITAL GRANT PROGRAM AWARDS: Program grants are considered taxable under Canada and Ontario Income Tax Acts. A T4A slip will be issued to the recipient of the award.
