Public Engagement Session to Discuss Reducing Red Tape in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent residents and businesses are invited to attend an open engagement session regarding the Municipality of Chatham-Kent's Continuous Improvement and “Red Tape” Reduction Project, hosted by Community Development. The event will be held on February 12, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. and will be located in the Council Chambers on the 2nd floor at the Chatham-Kent Civic Centre at 315 King Street West in Chatham.

The Continuous Improvement and “Red Tape” Reduction Project was launched in June of 2018 and has included an internal review of existing activities. The project is focused on identifying new opportunities for improving Community Development’s processes and allow for easier investment and growth across Chatham-Kent.

The event will include an overview of the project and examples of continuous improvement activities that are being implemented in the divisions of Building Development Services, Planning Services, Economic Development Services, and Legal Services.

Following the presentations, there will be a facilitated engagement session to collect questions, feedback, and comments regarding additional opportunities for reducing red tape. Included as part of the facilitated discussion, members of the public are invited to make a formal deputation. This can be done by contacting Jenn Wiseman at 519-360-1998 x3801 or email at

“We are looking forward to hearing directly from the community and having their input on what has been achieved so far, and the next steps to be taken,” said John Norton, General Manager, Community Development. “There has already been some excellent information collected through our online survey, and this event will provide another platform to discuss ideas in greater detail.”

Norton added, “Ultimately our goal is to make it even easier for people and businesses to invest in Chatham-Kent.”

Registration for the event is not required, but you can RSVP by visiting the website:
