The event marks a change in ownership and a new philosophy of safety, welcoming, and comfort in all areas of participation.

“We strive to encourage and build up all gymnasts through challenges that will allow them to reach their full potential by providing them with the skills needed in both the competitive and life’s challenges with pride and self-confidence,” said Audrey van der Zon, Co-owner of Great Lakes Gymnastics. “We are working hard to develop the best programming in the area, the best value, and allowing flexibility for our busy families.”

As part of their dedication to quality, all of their staff are certified through the National Coaching Certification Program and registered with Gymnastics Ontario.

“We also believe that children do their best learning in a healthy environment, which is why cleanliness and safety are our top priorities,” said Joel Desjardins, Co-owner of Great Lakes Gymnastics. “There were some concerns expressed about how the business functioned before we took ownership and we are doing everything possible to let people know that we have heard their voices and have addressed each and every comment.”

Under the new philosophy, students are encouraged to learn, grow, and build character in a space that is both positive and supportive. They offer a series of classes for children from a year and a half years old to twelve years old. In addition, they also have offer a competitive gymnastics program for passionate, hardworking individuals who want to excel and be challenged.

“We even have options for birthday parties and camps because ultimately it’s all about the kids and building their love of movement, self-confidence, and working together in a caring team environment,” said Audrey. “We are so happy to be able to help them grow, it’s our passion!”
