Following the successful Manufacturing Day on October 12, 2018, where students from across Chatham-Kent were able to see first-hand how advanced manufacturing operates in the municipality, officials from Chatham-Kent Economic Development met with Gincor Trailer Werx to discuss their need to hire more staff. Over the past year, the Gincor Trailer Werx manufacturing facility, located in Blenheim, Ontario, has seen an increase in demand which has driven the necessity to hire additional staff.
“We have implemented changes to the facility and the working conditions that have increased the satisfaction levels of our employees and our customers.” said Greg Pavelich, Human Resources / Health and Safety Manager for Gincor Trailer Werx. “When I talk to employees they tell me that they like that we appreciate their efforts, the stability and opportunities for growth, that we take safety seriously, and little things like staff barbeques before the long weekends in the summer.”
As business has been growing, Gincor Trailer Werx requires a variety of skilled workers including:
- General Labourers
- Industrial Painters
- Press Brake Operator
“If someone comes to us that is eager to work, proves that they are ready to learn, and be a part of the team, then we will do our best to help them be successful,” said Pavelich. “As I told the students on Manufacturing Day, if someone approaches us for a job who has the soft skills of showing an interest to learn, a positive attitude, and can be humble as they learn, then we are ready to help teach them.”
Pavelich added that there are several staff who have progressed in their roles to take on greater responsibility. “You can have an opportunity to work your way up. It's all about working smart, helping us improve, and being part of the team.”
“Gincor Werx was recognized in September as one of Canada’s fastest growing companies for a fourth straight year and locally they have been an excellent business addition to the community of Blenheim,” said Geoff Wright, Economic Development Officer with Economic Development Services at the Municipality. “They have brought their international experience and professionalism to the area, and employees are seeing the value of working there.”
