While the doors are closed at their current downtown location, it’s all for a perfect reason: they are growing and expanding to a new location at 137 King Street West, Chatham, Ontario.
“The response and support from the entire community has been simply wonderful,” said Chris Ford, co-owner of the Art and Heirloom Shoppe. “We are excited about expanding and moving to an even bigger location because it will mean we can bring in even more local art and showcase the talent from across the region.”
On the February 1, 2020 opening weekend, the shop will feature 36 local artists and offer customers a wide range of artwork including pottery, paintings, pen and ink designs, photography, jewelry, and a smattering of vintage pieces.
“The new space is beautiful and will mean we can do even more for the art community,” said Ford. “To get ready for the big event we had to close our doors for two weeks, but we promise to be back up and ready to meet the buzz which we keep hearing from across Chatham-Kent.”
“We have also been received the Digital Main Street grant from the OBIAA which will help us improve our website and other online promotions. It’s been a very busy time,” added Ford.
The Digital Main Street grant is a part of the work being supported by the Chatham-Kent Economic Development Digital Service Squad and the Small Business Centre.
“Helping our downtown bricks and mortar stores improve their digital footprint is exactly the purpose of the Digital Service Squad and we are thrilled that the Art and Heirloom Shoppe has been able to take advantage of the program,” said Andrew Tompsett, Chatham-Kent Economic Development.
A Grand Opening event with ribbon cutting has been planned for February 3, 2020 at 4 pm. The gathering will include Owners, Sue Rumball and Chris Ford, along with local artists and special delegates.
“Of course we welcome the community to join us over the February 1st weekend and to also stop by on the Monday to take part in our friendly celebration,” said Ford. “It’s going to be a great kickoff to our 2020 season and we would love to share it with everyone.
