Mercato Fresh: Investing in Chatham-Kent
Mercato Fresh has chosen Chatham-Kent to be the launch of their signature store which will define how they build and grow into the future. They chose our region for a variety of factors, including that we made it easy for them to invest
From planning, to building, to the opening day in this video - our Economic Development team was there as a partner in their growth. To simplify the investment process, Economic Development Officers serve as “Project Managers” providing a single “point of contact” within the Municipality for the duration of the file. This unique approach is available to both new investors and existing companies in the community.
Truly Green greenhouse operation covers 45 acres, with expansion planned for 90 acres of greenhouse production. It will be one of the first of its kind in North America to utilize waste heat in production, which is planned to be piped in from GreenField Specialty Alcohols nearby.

GreenField Global is the largest supplier of ethanol, industrial fuel and beverage grade alcohols in Canada. Since before 2000, they have continued to grow and invest in Chatham-Kent.
