Using a completely natural process that is thicker than honey, and with a name that sounds just as sweet, Sugar That - Chatham-Kent's first Body Sugaring business - has opened their doors today at 103 King Street West in Downtown Chatham. Sugar That Body Sugaring & Boutique, is owned and operated by Stephanie Simmons and provides a safe and all natural alternative to waxing and shaving.
“The Art of Body Sugaring has been around for centuries and Sugar That is proud to bring this service to residents of Chatham-Kent”, says Simmons. “We will also be selling all natural beauty products along with small displays from local artisans. I think it is important to help feature our local artisans where possible and will be dedicating space to display some of their works in our store.”
The idea for Sugar That came from the need for this service locally. Simmons herself has been travelling to receive this service for years.
“The closest full service Body Sugaring business is over an hour away in London. We hope to fulfill clients’ needs in the Chatham and surrounding areas,” said Simmons. “We will have three Body Sugaring Practitioners all together, and hope to be able to expand into Windsor over the next few years,”
Her daughter, Sadie McIntyre will be one of the Practitioners in the business and is grateful for the opportunity. “It’s cool that my Mom has created this opportunity for me to start a new career in Chatham. I wasn’t sure about it when she had the idea, but after being trained by Queen of the Nile in London, I was certified and feel confident I can provide good service to our clients.”
As a local entrepreneur, Stephanie also owns and operates Dimples Décor, Home Staging & Interior Decorating. “Chatham-Kent has embraced my home staging business over the last 4 years and I am so grateful to this community for allowing me to be able to support my family as an entrepreneur. I look forward to the coming years and I know that they will support this new venture as well.”
