This week Chatham-Kent Economic Development and the Small Business Centre were thrilled to present Radius Health Clinic with a cheque for $5000 through their Starter Company Plus program. Radius Health Clinic, which has just celebrated their one-year anniversary, successfully completed the program that included creating a complete business plan, attending mentorship and consultations sessions, and attending a 3-day training course.
“It’s a competitive process and there is only a few grants available, but Radius Health Clinic stood out with an exceptional plan and were dedicated to turning the plan into a reality,” said Taylor Hughes, Economic Development Officer with Chatham-Kent Economic Development. “As we like to say, the grant is the icing on the cake. Starter Company Plus is really about the training, the tools, and taking the time to work with the Small Business Centre to develop a strategy aimed at improving your chances to be successful with your business.”
Radius Health Clinic, which is located at 71 King Street West in Chatham, Ontario, offers a variety of services in their boutique-style location including physiotherapy, clinical nutrition, doula care, and medical acupuncture. They also offer ongoing classes and workshops for expecting and new mothers.
“Our focus is to help with the physical and digestive health of an array of individuals including those who are prenatal/postpartum, experiencing pelvic health, musculoskeletal, and have concerns about aging,” said Grecia Alaniz, Clinic Founder & Owner. "Our goal is to get people healthy, discharged, and out of here so they can go on and live a good life."
Alaniz added, "I also want to make sure that we have the right mix of services people need which is why we will be growing to add massage services this year. I want to help people!"
In addition to adding new services, Radius is also growing to add new staff in order to meet demand.
“Radius exemplifies what we hope to see in a business, not only are they starting and growing, but they are creating new jobs in the community,” said Hughes. “On top of all of that, they are bringing people back to Chatham-Kent that had left for school and other reasons. They are creating buzz in the downtown with all of their hard work and we are so proud to be a part of their story.”
The Starter Company Plus program is now accepting applications for the spring/summer 2020 cohort. People who are interested in starting a business or growing their existing business can find more information at www.investck.ca under the Programs tab.
“We are only accepting a maximum of 20 businesses into this round, so if you’re interested in being a part of the program, it’s best to contact us today,” said Hughes. “Even if you’re just thinking about starting a business and just have an idea, give us a call or send us an email and we can chat. Our services are free and everything is completely confidential.
