JM Fry Furniture Design Receives Business Grant and Announces Grand Re-Opening Weekend

To celebrate the grant and also their new location at 264 King Street West in Chatham, JM Fry will be hosting a Grand Re-opening weekend beginning Friday, November 2, 2018.

What first began in Vancouver, co-founders John Fry and Rose Linseman started their Chatham business in 2013 and since that time have grown from a small shop to now occupying a new, and much larger, Downtown Chatham storefront with on-site manufacturing.

“When we moved into our first downtown location we thought we would never fill the space, and just a few years later we realized that we were bursting at the seams,” said Rose Linseman. “It’s wonderful to be able to have a storefront that can accommodate the needs of our customers and also be a full workspace so we can produce our custom orders on-site.”

John Fry has been an upholsterer and designer for over 20 years and has worked on a wide range of projects from residential, to commercial, to artistic design based pieces. He has travelled and lived across the world including Australia, Vancouver, and Toronto, and has brought back the amazing designs and inspirations to Chatham-Kent.

“We started thinking about our business expansion a year ago and in February attended the Small Business Centre training which helped us to really focus on our plan,” said John. “Now, thanks to the help of the people in Economic Development, we are selling more custom furniture locally, across Ontario, and will be soon opening an online shop.”

“They created a really solid business plan with well thought out growth opportunities,” said Rosemarie Montgomery, Business Consultant for the Chatham-Kent Small Business Centre. “JM Fry employs one full-time person and has brought on three part-time contract employees. It just made sense to work with them and help them get to the next level.”

No longer tucked away behind another shop on main street, JM Fry Furniture Design is now a full-fledged business focused on helping customers create new pieces, refurbish old pieces, and look to lead the future of custom design and style.
