At Chatham-Kent Economic Development, you will see us constantly talking about the importance of shopping local and supporting local businesses. This is because when we support local business, local business is able to step up and help support the community. Recently we came across another great example of this, as staff at Gincor Trailer Werx, a local manufacturing facility in Blenheim, raised over $5700 for a group of local charities this past holiday season.
“We’ve been raising funds since we opened the location in Blenheim, but this past year has been quite a bit different because of COVID,” said Greg Pavelich, Human Resources / Health and Safety Manager for Gincor Trailer Werx. “In the past we would hold fundraising events such as our Christmas Charity Raffle Table where people would come together, but that couldn’t happen. Still, staff were creative and came up with new ways to raffle off prizes. It was a real team effort.”
As part of Gincor’s philosophy of giving back as much as possible to the community, the company matched dollar for dollar the donations of the staff.
“With the money raised, we were able to support the Chatham Kent Children Services Christmas Project, the Chatham Kent Drug Awareness Council, and the Blenheim and Merlin School Breakfast Program,” said Pavelich. “Employees directed how the funds were allocated to the charities in order to support them for a variety of reasons, some of them very personal.”
Pavelich added, “We are proud to partner with these three charity groups as they continue to do inspiring work to support different needs in Blenheim and the greater Chatham-Kent area.”
“It’s fantastic to see an organization like Gincor go above and beyond to support the community. It really speaks to the wonderful culture they have created and goes to show why they are being recognized by Canadian Business as one of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies for six years in a row, were voted by their employees as a Great Place to Work, and one of Canada’s Best Workplace in Manufacturing” said Jamie Rainbird, Manager of Economic Development.
Anyone looking to join the team at Gincor, the company is hiring experienced welder and fitters, and is always on the look out for talent.

- “As we continue to read about, or even worse experience, the numerous 'other harms' that have been created due to the pandemic many of us have the power to do something to help reduce the pain. Consider a child not experiencing the simple joy of discovering a special present under the tree or a neighbour, who through no fault of their own, not being able to put food on the table or a co-worker or friend dealing with an addiction in silence, you have the power to help.” - Greg Pavelich, Human Resources / Health and Safety Manager for Gincor Trailer Werx.
