He joined the Chatham-Kent Community Development department as an individual with a variety of progressive private and public sector experiences including accounting and finance, municipal governance, legislative and government relations, operations, environmental services, and economic development roles. Spencer also volunteers his time and expertise to different non-profit and charitable organizations.

Spencer values creativity and innovation in that it leads him to ask big questions and to re-imagine creating a sustainable tomorrow. His educational background is quite extensive and continues to grow as he pursues to create win/win/win situations. Spencer has a MBA from James Cook University, a BA.H. in Business Administration and Political Studies from Trent University, a Diploma in Municipal Administration from the Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario, and has completed the Economic Developer’s Association of Canada Year One Program from the University of Waterloo. Spencer participates in industry-related professional organizations and is an aspiring TED speaker.
