Bio-Fuels

Chatham-Kent is home to the largest supplier of ethanol, industrial fuel and beverage grade alcohols in Canada, GreenField Global. In response to demand for a clean, renewable alternative to oil, GreenField Global established a facility in the heart of rich farmland in Chatham-Kent in 1998.

Respected for its ingenuity, GreenField is offering an alternative to rising oil prices by developing next generation biofuels made from agriculture, forestry and municipal waste. This region is ideal for future bio-fuel developments.

Ridgetown Campus takes pride in addressing bio-economy opportunities as they relate to agriculture, horticulture and environment industries.  The Centre for Agricultural Renewable Energy and Sustainability (C.A.R.E.S) focuses on generating direct benefits to the farm gate while advancing the innovation of new technologies and encouraging the adoption of bio-energy.
