In her novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin", Harriet Beecher Stowe modelled the character, Uncle Tom, after the Reverend Josiah Henson.
Josiah Henson settled in this part of Canada when he escaped the South along the trails of the underground railroad. Visit his home and other unique 19th century heritage buildings.
