Harvestfest Returns to the Ridge House Museum!

It’s that time of year again! Fall is just around the corner and the Ridge House Museum is celebrating its arrival with our Second Annual Harvestfest! Bring your family to the museum on September 18 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for an afternoon of fall fun. Delight in Victorian toys and games, fun fall crafts, and appetizing autumn treats. Also, take advantage of your last time to visit our exhibit - Home on the Ridge and to tour the museum before it closes for the season. Once again, we are inviting all enthusiastic bakers to enter the Harvestfest Dessert Contest.

“Since last year’s dessert contest was such a huge success we have added a new savoury contest for this year’s festivities,” states museum curator, Nicole Gignac. “Everyone is invited to enter their favourite dish in our Chili or Stew Contest or a tasty fall dessert in our Dessert Contest.”

Entering is as easy as pie – or stew! Entry forms and contest rules can be found at the Ridge House Museum, the Chatham-Kent Museum, or online at www.chatham-kent.ca. There is a $2 per dish entry fee that must be submitted with your entry form before 5 p.m. on September 17, 2010. Following judging, first place dishes in each contest will be awarded a $25 gift certificate to Yeck’s Smokehouse Grill.

Kids, don’t feel left out, you can enter our pumpkin carving/decorating contest! Bring your pre-carved pumpkin with you when you visit the museum for our Harvestfest activities on September 18 for this free contest. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded in two age groups (5 to 7 and 8 to 12). The most festive fall pumpkin will be the winner!

The Ridge House Museum Harvestfest will be held on September 18, 2010 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ridge House Museum, 53 Erie Street South, Ridgetown. For more information on the Second Annual Ridge House Museum Harvestfest or any of our contests please contact the Ridge House Museum curator at 519 674 2223 or email ckridgehouse@chatham-kent.ca
