Chatham-Kent is a Premier Fishing Destination
Surrounded by lakes, bays and rivers that are plentiful with multiple species of fish, Chatham-Kent features small lakefront communities that cater to the needs of anglers.
With excellent access to trophy-size musky our region is considered a premier fishing destination. In fact Mitchell’s Bay in Chatham-Kent is one of the few musky lakes in existence, making it a popular choice for professional and recreational anglers from around the world.

The bay feeds out to Lake St. Clair and within the lake there are several tributaries that provide exceptional places to cast a line.
Whether the preference is musky in Lake St. Clair or pickerel in Lake Erie, fresh water fishing is exceptional on either shore of Chatham-Kent. To fish in a more protected area, the Sydenham and Thames Rivers are good for catching pickerel, pike, bass and catfish.

The sport is year-round here with walleye prevalent in Lake Erie in the early spring and perch prolific in July and August. Pan fish and perch are plentiful in Lake St. Clair in the spring; bass, musky and pike are available year-round. An excellent supply of perch during winter provides good ice fishing on Mitchell’s Bay.
Several marina facilities have accessible launch ramps that accommodate boats of various sizes. As well, there are boat repair centres and sporting goods stores to service visiting anglers. Experienced charter companies and guide services are also available to take anglers to areas where fish are abundant.
