Thank you for visiting. In order to serve you better, new web sites for the Cultural Centre, Kiwanis Theatre, Thames Art Gallery, Milner Heritage House, Ridge House Museum, and Chatham-Kent Museum are currently in development. In today’s world we hear more than ever about the importance of “quality of place” in order to ensure the growth and success of communities. It has also become apparent that heritage, visual arts, and performing arts, commonly combined and termed “culture”, are the fundamental pillars in building quality of place through increased cultural tourism, attraction and retention of youth, professionals, and business, or increased pride and identity among our residents.
Chatham-Kent is fortunate to have one of the truly great and unique institutions in the province in the Cultural Centre. The centre brings together a nationally renowned art gallery, award winning museum, and vibrant theatre that is the envy and a template for other communities’ themes. The exhibits, programs and collections at the Cultural Centre are exceptional in their diversity and extent.
The Friends of the Cultural Centre is a volunteer operated, not-for-profit, registered charity. Its role is to act as a partner with the venues of the Centre and, through a variety of creative and fun events and initiatives, increase the awareness and financial foundation to allow the Cultural Centre to do things that it would not otherwise be able to do. To do this, the Friends of the Cultural Centre need people from all sectors with an interest and appreciation of culture and its benefits to the community to become involved as board members and volunteers. Whether your passion is to help acquire the finest collection of important local artefacts and artists’ work, beautify the grounds to be a regional showcase, or help build a new atrium or cat-walk to facilitate more performing arts, the Friends of the Cultural Centre is the organization that exists to make this happen.
As an individual that has a vested interest in culture, please accept this invitation from the Friends of the Cultural Centre as a call to action to shape the direction of this important community resource for the future.
