2016-17 School Programs
The Chatham Cultural Centre is an exciting place to discover, learn and laugh.
We offer a variety of engaging programs in art, history and drama offered by the Thames Art Gallery, Kiwanis Theatre, Chatham-Kent Museum, Milner Heritage House and Ridge House Museum.
All field trip programs meet current curriculum guidelines to complement and enhance school programs.
The brochure is designed to help you plan and create a day of cultural education and creative play for your students.
For bookings or information, please call the facility booking coordinator at 519.354.8338 or email CKccc@chatham-kent.ca. Should any students require special assistance, please let us know in advance of your visit so the tour or workshop can be made as enjoyable and accessible as possible. Please be advised that we require a 30 minute break between programs. This break ensures that our instructor is able to prep for your next program, and have a quick nutrition break.
Cancellations and Charges:
If you must cancel, please do so at least 48 hours before your confirmed booking. If the visit is cancelled within 24 hours of the confirmed booking, the cancellation fee that Is charged is equal to the expected revenue generated by your visit. This cancellation fee does not apply in the case of severe weather.
Your school will be invoiced for the actual number of students participating in your workshop. There is no charge for accompanying adults and teachers unless supplies are used for a take home project by that person. Please let us know at the time of booking number of adults and teachers that will be attending.
Guided tours of the Gallery, Museum, and Milner Heritage House are available as well during these times. The same booking and cancellation policies apply.
Lunch - Whenever possible, Chatham Cultural Centre provides space for a one-hour lunch break. Chatham Cultural Centre is equipped with water fountains and wheelchair accessible restrooms.
Play Area - On fair weather days, classes can enjoy using the playground equipment across the street in Tecumseh Park.
Parking - Plenty of free parking for buses and cars.
Cost - No additional fee for these services.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is thrilled to offer an exciting subsidy for every Chatham-Kent school student who participates in an education program at the Kiwanis Theatre, Thames Art Gallery, Chatham-Kent Museum, Milner Heritage House, and Ridge House Museum.
When a teacher registers his/her class for a program/workshop, each student will receive 50% off the student cost. Subsidy dollars are limited, and available on a 'first come, first served' registration basis.
The Education Programs at the Cultural Centre have been very well-received by elementary students and their teachers. We have also received positive feedback from parents whose children have attended the programs. Although the funds are limited, we hope that a large number of teachers take advantage of this fund to rediscover the hands-on learning that the Cultural Centre has to offer.
For more information on this subsidy or the educational programs offered, contact the Chatham Cultural Centre at 519.354.8338
