Engineering in Chatham-Kent is a stand-alone Department providing a wide variety of technical services to Council, Operating Departments and most other Service groups. Specific work consists of Civil project design and construction, a wide range of map developments, utility service record keeping and computer created displays for presentations.
With a fully integrated staff of 20 professional individuals, we cater to design, project management and the practice of engineering, using the latest in technical and computer advancements. We are charged with being a model for leadership and professional ethics. Quality engineering expertise is provided to Operating Departments on an efficient, cost recovery basis.
The Engineering design function includes public information presentations for projects, designs and specifications, contract supervision and payments. Inspections and testing are arranged for a wide variety of Civil materials such as concrete, asphalt and granulars.
Sewer quality is proofed by closed circuit television. Technical expertise is provided for the budget and performance management of sidewalks, pavements, bridges, sewers and water mains using advanced database and use/cost/prioritizing modeling techniques.
Responsible Department staffing levels require that our services be augmented by the capable support of the several competent local and regional specialist Engineering Consultants. Together we make up the Chatham-Kent Engineering Team.
