PHILOSOPHY Our objective is to provide a loving, learning environment where the development of each child can be promoted in a positive and creative manner, and where caring, experienced teachers offer personalized attention and support.
Our program encourages and enhances all stages of a child's development: physical, emotional, social and intellectual. Our staff promotes and fosters this development by creating a safe, comfortable and fun environment in which children may gain a positive sense of themselves and others, develop friendships, and learn to relate to others with empathy and respect. Activities are designed to generate confidence, trust and independence to prepare each child to be comfortable in any situation. We believe that the quality of children's early experiences is paramount for their development.
BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT
Our approach to behaviour management uses natural and logical consequences, offers choices and encourages and allows children to be responsible for their own decisions. The centre supervisor would be pleased to discuss the philosophy and its implementation with you.
PROGRAM The program is planned under the guidance of qualified teachers and is based on the knowledge of children's growth needs. Daily activities follow a regular pattern so that the child can feel secure in knowing what to expect and when. Preschool children learn through play, and our program includes indoor and outdoor play periods, stories, art, music and rhythm, and a variety of creative activities. Field trips are scheduled regularly. Daily schedules and planned activites are posted for you to review.
SLEEPTIME
A rest or sleep period is advantageous to a healthy preschooler.
NUTRITION
We provide nutritious, well balanced lunches and morning and afternoon snacks. Menus are posted one week in advance. Please discuss any required special diets with the supervisor.
SELF CARE
Personal hygiene skills such as washing, combing hair, and brushing teeth are learned and practiced daily.
HEALTH
For your child, a health record, with all updated immunizations is required before admission. Immunizations must be kept up to date and recorded in each child's file.
BONUS ACTIVITIES
Both centres have organized gym programs and access to library services. May Court Childcare Learning Centres' children visit local nursing homes and retirement centres. Wallaceburg Childcare Learning Centre offers swimming and skating lessons in cooperation with Recreation Services.
