The Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport is owned and operated by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. The municipality contracts the managing of the airport to Z3 Aviation. The Public Works Department is responsible for overseeing the operation and budget of the airport. There are a number of local people and businesses that are tenants at the airport in the various hangars. The airport is located 12.5 kilometres southeast of the former City of Chatham and occupies a land area of approximately 422 acres, of which the majority is leased to local farmers. The airport serves as a port of call for air carriers offering chartered passenger service, and services both private and commercial fixed-wing aircraft operators located on site.
The airport is operational 9 hours per day, 7 days per week and is capable of supporting both (VFR) and (IFR) operations down to 510 feet and one and a half-statute mile visibility non-precision approach limits and departures in visibility down to half a statute mile. Call-out procedures have been established for services outside of regular working hours.
