The Chatham-Kent Social Housing Division administers applications for the coordinated-access waiting list (i.e. Chatham-Kent Social Housing/CKSH) for individuals and families in need of adequate and affordable social housing throughout Chatham–Kent.
Chatham-Kent Social Housing Division staff provides centralized information about private non-profits, co-operatives and our municipally owned social housing. We assist applicants of every income level to make informed choices about their housing needs.

- A variety of units for families, single adults, seniors and special needs individuals.
- Geared-to-income, subsidized & market rental units.
- Provide assessment services and housing referrals to providers.
- Administration from Chatham-Kent Health and Family Services - Social Housing Office. We are located in the Chatham-Kent Centre for Community Services.
Who Qualifies:
- You or someone in your household must be 16 years old or older and must be capable of living independently.
- You must be a Canadian Citizen /Permanent Resident or have made an application for status as a Permanent Resident / or have Refugee Claimant household under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) and no removal order has become enforceable against any member of the household.
- You must not owe arrears to any social housing provider or have been found by the Rental Housing Tribunal or a court of law to have misrepresented income in relation to the receipt of rent geared-to-income assistance.
- If you own a house, you must agree to put it up for sale upon offer to lease and sell within six months.
When making application to be added to the Chatham-Kent Social Housing Coordinated Access Waiting List for accommodation, you can choose from a number of housing options, specifying exactly where you would prefer to live. The CKSH Directory provides detailed information on housing provider locations and types of rental units available. If the number of housing providers you select is limited, your waiting period to get housed may be longer. Contact CK Social Housing Division for detailed unit information to assist in determining your housing needs. If you are a victim of family violence or feel you have special housing needs, please contact staff immediately.
