The Ontario Child Benefit is administered by the Canada Revenue Agency. Regular monthly payments will begin in July 2008. There is a maximum annual benefit of $600.00 per child. It is reduced for family net income above $20,000. It will be included with the Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) and National Child Benefit Supplement (NCBS). The Ontario Child Care Supplement will also be consolidated into the OCB payment. The OCCS will be phased out after the OCB has reached maturity in 2011. |
Eligibility
The information is taken from the individual's previous year's income tax return.
You may be eligible for the Ontario Child Benefit if:
-
you are entitled to the CCTB,
-
you are a resident of Ontario,
-
you have a family adjusted net income below established OCB income thresholds.
If your taxes are filed late, OCB payments will be made retroactively. Retroactive payments will be made once the individual's income is assessed by the Canada Revenue Agency.
