PILOT PROGRAM The Municipality of Chatham-Kent Cemeteries will be hosting the first ever Historical Cemetery Stewardship Seminar for Cemetery managers and operators. This new program is limited to 40 participants. It is a one day event that will encompass the following issues:
Concepts of Cultural Heritage Value and Cultural landscape. The reasons for preserving and having conservation program in place. Trust Funds, their purpose and importance. Guest speakers will include Tamara-Anson Cartwright and John Quinn, Ministry of Culture, Heritage and Museums branch, Sach Killam Woodlawn Cemetery, Guelph and Michael D'Mello, Registrar, Cemeteries Regulation Branch, Ministry of Consumer and Business Services. Maximum 40 Participants allowed. Cost $40.00 + GST = $42.80 includes coffee, snacks and luncheon served on site.

"Historic Tombstone Repair Hands-on Workshop for Cemetery Maintenance Crews, Supervisors and Volunteers".
This two day workshop will introduce participants to a wide variety of conservation techniques and best practices. Training will range from the philosophy of conservation to hands on practical work. Per Neumeyer, master stonemason specializing in conservation of cemeteries, Tamara-Anson Cartwright, advising conservator regarding cemeteries and Sach Killam, cemetery worker with practical experience in applying the workshop training in situ will be leading the two day hands on component. Maximum 15 participants. Cost for two day session is 350.00 plus GST. = $ 374.50. Lunch, coffee, beverage and snacks are provided both days. Also participants will receive a copy of Tamara-Anson Cartwright's “Landscapes of Memories" as a reference guide after the course.
