The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has developed a new permit system.  This policy is for the moving of vehicles, loads, buildings, objects, or structures excluding farm tractors and vehicles of self-propelled implements of husbandry on any roadway within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent in excess of the dimensional limits set out in Section 109 Part VII (Load & Dimension) and Part VIII (Weight) of the Highway Traffic Act (R.S.O. 1990, Chapter H.8).

No moves allowed during half load season on half load roads.

 

 

General Conditions

 

Class I Permit:

Vehicles and loads not greater than 3.75 metres (12.3 feet) in loaded width or not greater than 4.15 metres (13.5 feet) in loaded height, excluding residential buildings. 

 

Class II Permit:

Vehicles and loads greater than 3.75 metres (12.3 feet) in loaded width to a maximum of 10.0 metres (33 feet) and/or greater than 4.15 metres (13.5 feet) in loaded height to a maximum of 8.5 metres (28 feet).  If over 4.5 metres (14.76 feet) in loaded width you will require a police escort.  If over 3.75 metres (12.3 feet) and under 4.5 metres(14.76 feet) you will require a private escort.
