How to register for a library card

Visit any one of CKPL branch locations and provide one piece of identification showing your name and current address. Photo ID is preferred. Note: Children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult/ legal guardian.

Corporate Cards

Organizations are entitled to free library cards with the Chatham-Kent Public Library. Schools, daycares, businesses and non-profit groups or agencies can check out library materials to a special library card called a corporate card. Benefits of this card include:

• The card can be shared amongst the organization.
• All items from the organization are on one account. There is no need for an individual staff or volunteer to have to use their own personal library card.
• The organization assumes responsibility for all items checked out on its card.

To obtain a corporate library card fill out the form ‘Corporate Registration Form’ and return it to your nearest branch. A senior official/administrator must sign for the card and accept responsibility on behalf of the organization.

Card rules are the same as any other library card. Your organization will be responsible for all charges resulting from late, damaged or lost materials borrowed on that agency’s corporate card.

How much does it cost?

Library cards are free to:
  • All residents of Chatham-Kent
  • Residents of Sarnia-Lambton, Essex, St.Thomas, Middlesex and Elgin Counties. Identification and a valid library card from their home community is required for registration.

Non-residential fees apply to all other communities including the cities of Windsor and London.

  • Annual Fee - $30.00
  • 6 months - $15.00

Update your library card

Library cards are updated annually. If your contact information changes (home address, telephone number, email address), please let us know. Current contact information helps us maintain better customer service.

Personal information is collected under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and will be used strictly for the purpose of contacting you about library related matters.

Report Lost/Stolen Card

Please contact your local CKPL branch if your library card is lost or stolen. You are responsible for all material borrowed on your card (or your child’s) until it is reported. The cost for replacing a lost/stolen card is $2.00.

Why do I need a library card?
