Job Description:
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s Recreation Programs is currently seeking students for Team Leaders for the summer of 2010. Reporting to the Area Coordinator, this position involves program fieldwork throughout the Municipality. These positions run for a period up to 10 to 11 weeks, working approximately 42.5 to 45 hours per week, subject to change (may require some evenings and weekends).
Locations of camps where positions may be available:
Blenheim, Bothwell, Chatham, Dresden, Merlin, Ridgetown, Thamesville, Wallaceburg, Wheatley
Responsibilities:
· Coordinate the planning, implementation and evaluation of one Park or Community Day Camp program
· Ensure staff is actively involved in all aspects of program planning, set-up, conducting activities and actively participating in activities including swimming, clean-up and evaluation
· Coordinate all administrative duties, such as attendance forms, permission forms, newsletters and medical/information/etc. forms
· Implement the philosophies of HIGH FIVE
Qualifications:
· For positions that are subject to receiving student subsidy funding; the funding requires summer students to be attending a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the spring 2010 semester, and returning to a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the fall 2010 semester
· For positions not receiving student subsidy funding, to be eligible students must have attended a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the spring of 2010, and/or attending a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the fall of 2010
· Because of the responsibilities of the program for leaders, applicants must be 14 years of age or older to apply
· Current Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR (prior to May 29, 2010)
· Certified with the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development (provided during camp training at cost)
· Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) prior to commencement of employment
Compensation:
This summer student position has an hourly wage rate of $12.50 to $14.50 (based on the 2010 student compensation plan), plus vacation and statutory benefits according to the employment standards act.
