Job Description:
Riverview Gardens has an opening for ten (10) Personal Care Givers (Summer Students). These summer student positions are casual call-in, with approximately 22.5 hours per week. This position will be from approximately May 25, 2010 to a period up to September 3, 2010.
Responsibilities:
· As a member of the nursing department, the successful candidates must be able to assist residents with activities of daily living; this includes assisting with meals, baths, personal hygiene and dressing, transfers
Qualifications:
· To be eligible for this summer student position, students must have attended a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the spring of 2010, and/or attending a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the fall of 2010
· Because of the responsibilities of this position, preference will be given to students enrolled in a registered nursing program
· Have physical strength and ability to withstand long periods of standing, walking and frequent bending on a daily basis
· Possess ability to work independently, and as a member of a team
· This position requires the employee to wear slip resistant footwear while at Riverview Gardens
· Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) prior to commencement of employment
Compensation:
This summer student position has an hourly wage of $12.50 to $14.50 (based on 2010 student compensation plan), plus vacation and statutory benefits according to the Employment Standards Act.
